Pronounced; ‘Pray-Go’ meaning; ‘You’re Welcome’
Prego was first founded in 2022 by Chris and Josh, who first became colleagues and friends over 25 years ago when Chris was a Catering Manager and Hotelier and trained Josh as a chef when he was just 15 years old.
Chris started cooking at just 12 years of age, working in frozen foods, restaurants, cafes, events and becoming a Head Chef at 20 years of age.
Josh’s enjoyment of creative cooking led him to a successful career in the food industry, being Head Chef at numerous restaurants, schools and franchises.
Together, they bring classic traditional cuisine to life with their very own Prego twist.
After years of wanting to create a bespoke, high-quality takeaway option, that gives the customer the feeling that they’ve enjoyed a restaurant quality meal, but in the comfort of their own home, ‘Prego’ was born.
The name ‘Prego’ was chosen as many of the first dishes they decided to try were Italian, putting their own twist on each one. Although the menu has evolved since then, to include classic cuisine from all different countries, the name has remained.
After a number of successful events in 2022 & 2023, Chris & Josh decided to bring Prego to their local town of Hinckley and they set up their kitchen in Burbage.
With 2024 proving to be a hugely successful year, with a string of 5 star reviews, an evolving menu and extensive customer following, Chris & Josh are now very excited to bring Prego to the heart of Hinckley town centre.
With a common goal to use only the best, locally sourced organic ingredients and provide a high-quality takeaway with a difference, Chris & Josh are looking forward to welcoming new & familiar faces, as the Prego journey continues.
